The Bishop’s School was established in 1864 (154 years ago) and is affiliated to Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), New Delhi. The school has three branches located in Pune Cantonment, Kalyani Nagar and Undri. The school understood the importance of inclusiveness and 17 years ago created a section called ‘Sparkles’ that helps kids with learning disability (LD). Students are identified, assessed and provided with appropriate intervention in the multi-level approach used by the school. Sparkles uses a multi-level approach which includes preventive mental health, identification of the problem and intervention.
Alongside it, youngsters are likewise given help with the following zones – resource room for play therapy and remedial work, PC supported interactive learning, monitoring and progress feedback, note taking assistance, exam accommodations and magnifying glasses, expanded worksheets and so on as the need emerges. Sparkles, therefore, is aimed at providing kids with process-oriented learning. Emphasis is placed on the value of collaborative work between educators, parents, and students with a hope of constructively engaging students themselves to bring about positive transformations. “The Bishops has gone the extra mile to ensure that through Sparkles the focus is on creating achievers than non achievers and our records prove it.” by Henry Soggee, Headmaster of Bishop’s School, Undri.
