Addressing Stimming Behaviours
When stimming behaviour start to physically harm the child and interfere with learning, inter-personal relationships and social situations, they need to be addressed.
Here are some ways that may help:
1. Eliminate triggers or stressors and create a calm environment
2. Create a visual schedule to minimise anxiety which leads to stims
3. Encourage self-control and awareness of surroundings
4. Teach replacement behaviours
5. No punishment
