Madhuram Narayanan Centre for Exceptional Children (MNC) was established in Chennai in December 1989. MNC provides Early Intervention services for children (6 years and below), Developmental Delays and associated disabilities like Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Down’s syndrome (DS), Cerebral Palsy (CP) and Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD). The center has helped over 5200 children with disabilities in the past 24 years. The center currently helping about 150 special need kids on a regular basis most of the kids come from nearby area however they do have kids from various states of India.
MNC’s team consists of Special Educators, Physiotherapists, Occupational therapists, Developmental Pediatrician, Neurologist, Yoga and Music therapists. Consultations for medical interventional facilities are provided by Sankara Netralaya, Prem Center, Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute, Kanchi Kamakoti Childs Trust Hospital, and Baskar Dental Foundation.
Upanayan Early Intervention Programme: Is a systematic, structured programme for the management and training of children with developmental delays. It’s been designed keeping Indian socia-economic conditions in mind. In this programme, the mother as an educator of her child leads him/her along the path of development. In the process, she is advised and guided by experts and evolves as a carryover agent, co-educator, and a co-therapist for her child. In many situations the father, the grandparents and close relatives of the child are also totally involved and “lead” the child along.
