DAV Public School, Gurgaon is an Inclusive School that initiated the concept of integrated and inclusive school for special need children on 4th April 2005 to provide them “a home away from home”.
Endeavor is made to analyze and solve behavioral problems also with the help of special educators and psychologist. Normal behavioral patterns are encouraged by integrating these special children with their normal counterparts, taking care not to hinder the MR in their independency. Efforts are made to make them computer literate according to their abilities. They are trained music and art-craft as well to bring out their latent talents.
Academics skills including reading, writing and drawing are programmed for these students as well. They are grouped according to their abilities and age aspect. With pride, they mention here that nine students have cleared class X examination in this session 2010-2011 (Through Open School, New Delhi) 6 students appeared* in class XII examination through NIOS in the session 2011-2012.
To ensure recreation, children are taken for picnics and restaurants to enable them to become independent. They are encouraged to participate in different games whenever possible at different levels organized by the Special Olympics, Haryana, Bharat and its worth mentioning that they have always been able to bring laurels for the school. Children are assisted further in mental and physical growth with the help of therapists like- Physiotherapist, Occupational therapist and Speech therapist.
